Award

architekturbild, the European Architectural Photography Prize, has been awarded on a two-yearly basis since 1995. Since 2003,  the prize has been awarded by architekturbild e.v., a non-profit organization, and since 2008 in cooperation with the Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Frankfurt, and since 2016 with the Bundesstiftung Baukultur, Potsdam/Berlin.

Subject

City and countryside, migration between conurbations and rural areas, their respective attractiveness and independence, but also dependence and interdependence with one another – this is what moves people in the long term, whether they choose one of these living environments voluntarily or forced, or even commute between the two worlds. The layers between town and country are becoming more permeable, a clear assignment is becoming more difficult. Now the theme of EAP 2021 could also be »The Periphery in the Urban«, but the promoters thought it would be more interesting to trace the subtle or even obvious effects of the urban-rural movement. And what would be more predestined for this than architectural photography?!

Requirements

Submissions should consist of a series of four photographs on this theme (as prints, maximum format: 40 x 40 cm; the longest picture edge must be at least 28 cm long, and no longer than 50 cm for panorama pictures). Only entries with exactly four photographs will be accepted. Only one entry per photographer. The photographs themselves should not be more than three years old. The photographs will be judged as a series. High technical quality in the submitted material is a prerequisite. An application as a team with a common series is possible.

The submitted originals will be shown in the exhibition. Please bear this in mind when choosing the paper, the quality of the print and the care taken when packing and sending the works.

Entry Fee

The entry fee is 60 Euros (Trainees/Students: 30 Euros; please enclose proof). Along with the filled-out form, entrants should send

– the entry fee in cash or
